Rowan Twigs II

So, nun gibts ein erstes Foto vom Beginn. Ich hab heftigst rumprobiert mit dem Muster und diese Variante fand ich einfach am Besten, weil sie sowas Zweigartiges hat und die "Zöpfe" nicht wandern.

Das Stricken mit Lenpur Linen geht unglaublich schnell von der Hand, das Garn ist wunderbar und leuchtet wunderschön. Aber das Zeug ist praktisch nicht gezwirnt und grade mit den Metall-Knitpicks hat man ständig halbe Fäden in der Hand. Nicht sehr lesefreundlich.

Und das ist ein winziges bisschen ätzend, weil das Muster jetzt nicht so herausfordernd ist, dass ich mich dabei gut auf ein Buch konzentrieren könnte. Das klingt bescheuert, es ist aber so, dass mein Kopf nur dann zur Ruhe kommt, wenn die Hände mit etwas Anspruchsvollem beschäftigt sind. Und das ist entweder eine kompliziertere Strickerei oder ein 3000-Teile-Puzzle mit sehr fließenden (und auf den Teilen schwer erkennbaren) Farbübergängen. Dann sitze ich da und kann nicht mehr aufhören zu hören, weils so spannend ist. Die Alternative ist ein ganz einfaches Ding, dann kann ich dabei lesen.

Jedenfalls ist das mein Unterwegsstrickzeug (ähm, ich hab heute frühs um sieben im Büro gestrickt, bis der PC hochgefahren war; Gottseidank ist um die Zeit noch kaum jemand da). Jetzt habe ich gleichzeitig mit Lana Grossa Secondo einen aufwändigeren Musterpulli angefangen (Foto lohnt noch nicht), damit ich mein Buch weiterhören kann.

Here is the first picture of Rowan Twigs. I had a very hard time trying out how best to do the pattern. In the end this version seemed most fitting, it looks a bit twiglike and the mock cables don't twist.

Knitting Lenpur Linen works fine and fast, the yarn is wonderful and shiny. But this stuff is hardly twisted at all and especially the metal Knit-picks constantly pick up only half the yarn. This is not very reader-friendly.

And that is quite annoying, since the pattern is not so complicated to make me able to concentrate on a book. That sounds odd, still my head goes to rest only when my hands are occupied with something quite challenging. That may be a more complicated knitting project or a 3000-pieces jigsaw-puzzle with flowing (and on the pieces hardly distinguishable) colour transitions. Then I'm sitting there virtually unable to stop listening. There the alternative would be to knit something completely mindless in order to be able to read.

That's why Rowan Twigs is now my "on the way" project (well, at seven a.m. today I even knitted in office waiting for my laptop to start; thank god not very many people are there at that time of day). Now I've started a more challenging pullover project with Lana Grossa Secondo (no use of a picture yet), so I'll be able to go on listening to my audio-book.
