Work in Progress

In Arbeit habe ich grade drei sehr unterschiedliche Projekte. Dabei muss ich zugeben, dass ich auf Thermal derzeit keine Lust habe. Und Inishmore scheint mir riesengroß zu werden, da hab ich so halb Lust drauf, aber halt mehr auf meine drei derzeitigen Projekte. Ein viertes ist angefangen und muss auch noch fertig werden vor Weihnachten, aber da gibts nicht genug zu sehen, um es zu fotografieren.

My work in progress at present are three quite different projects. I have to admit, I'm not very keen on Thermal. Inishmore seems to be growing too big, I have half a mind to go on, but I like the other three projects much better. I've also just started a fourth one and it will have to be finished before christmas, but there is not enough to be seen in a picture.

1. Laminaria: Das ist meine zweite, diesmal einfarbig grün aus einer Sockenwolle mit Merino, Seide, Kaschmir und Polyamid. Wunderbar weich, wunderbar grün (natürlich wieder nicht auf dem Bild *grummel), interessantes Muster und überhaupt, ich glaube, die wird auch sehr schön. Ich habe grade das erste Muster fertig und das zweite angefangen. Ich plane sie mittelgroß, dann kann sich die betreffende Nichte drin einwickeln oder sie um den Hals tragen, ganz wie gewünscht.

My second Laminaria will be green. The yarn is sock yarn in a mixture of merino, silk, cashmere an polyamid. Wonderfully smooth, wonderfully green (of course this doesn't show on the picture *hmpf), interesting pattern and I think it's going to be beautiful again. I just finished the first pattern and started the second. I'm planning it between the two sizes so my niece will be able to either wrap herself in it or drape it around her neck, whatever pleases her.

2. Adult Surprise Jacket: Nachdem ich das kleine Modell gestrickt hatte, musste ich natürlich direkt das Große anfangen. Ich habe den Abnahmeteil fertig und beginne gerade mit der Zunahme. Das Garn ist Schoppel Zauberwolle (nicht Zauberball), aber ich habe nicht genug davon. Deshalb werde ich das mit einem passenden einfarbig-blaugrünen Garn mischen. Ich glaube, das wird gut, ich hatte das eh schon überlegt, insofern ist es nicht schlimm, dass das andere nicht reicht. Der zweite Aspekt ist nämlich, dass man immer aufpassen muss wie ein Luchs, dass das Ende von einem und der Beginn des nächsten Knäuels einen guten Übergang haben. An einer Stelle hatte ich da nicht aufgepasst und kriege so den ganz harten Übergang, so dass der Bruch dann in Ordnung geht.

After having knitted the small sample I immediately started the real thing. I'm done with the decreasing and started increasing. The yarn is Schoppel Zauberwolle (not to be confused with "Zauberball"), but I don't have enough of this, so I will mix it with a matching unicolour bluegreen. I think this will work out nicely, I had thought about it anyway, so I don't mind this change of plan. The second aspect of using a second colour is, that in the Zauberwolle the skeins have to be picked out thus that the change from one to the other skein is smooth. I have two skeins, where I didn't pay sufficient attention, so I'm creating an artificial hard change, with which I can use these skeins also.

3. Aran-Fisherman Duffle: Auch genannt Prügelstricken mit Starmore und Zimmermann. Ich wollte gerne den Aran Coat (Ravelry-Link) von Zimmermann als eine Art Dufflecoat stricken, mit dickem Garn, damit ich den als diesjährigen Wintermantel nehmen kann. Mir gefiel aber dieses Sheepfold-Muster nicht, zumal ich den Mantel hin und her stricke (ich hab nix gegen linke Maschen) und dann auch auf der Rückseite hätte zopfen müssen. Da hab ich ein bisschen rumgesucht und bin auf das Hauptmuster von Kinsale (wieder Ravelry-Link) gestoßen, das den entscheidenden Vorteil hat, ein Reliefmuster und kein Zopfmuster zu sein. Also habe ich Zimmermanns Grundprinzip und den Fishbone-Zopf genommen und Starmores Kinsale-Muster dazugemischt. Das Ganze aus Katia Peru, ein Garn mit Merino, Plastik und Alpaca. Wunderbar weich und ich stricke nicht so bombenfest damit.

Ich habe kein Bündchen gemacht, sondern nach dem ersten Mustersatz einfach zu jedem Zopf und glatt linken Zwischenstück eine Masche dazugenommen, damit hatte ich die 10% Zunahme, ohne dass sie auffällt.

Aran-Fisherman Duffle: Also called cudgel-knitting with Starmore and Zimmermann. I liked Zimmermann's Aran Coat (Ravelry Link) to be knitted as a sort of duffle-coat with thick yarn, so this will be this year's winter garment. However, I don't like the sheepfold-pattern too much and I don't knit the thing round and round (I don't mind purling), which would have meant to cable also on the wrong side. So I started searching and came up with the main pattern of Kinsale (again Ravelry-Link), which has a definite advantage in being a relief pattern rather than a cable pattern. So I'm taking the principle construction and the fishbone pattern of Zimmermann together with the Kinsale pattern of Starmore. I'm doing this with Katia Peru, a yarn made of merino, alpaca and some 40% of some plastic, beautifully smooth and I'm knitting not too tight with it.

I didn't do a ribbing, but I increased one purl stitch at every usable pattern part after the first pattern. So I have a 10% increase without this being too noticeable.

Und das vierte Projekt ist ein Fair-Isle Kinderpullover. Da habe ich grade erst den ersten Mustersatz hinter mir, da zeigt sich noch nix. Wird aber schön, wenn ich die Maschen einigermaßen gleichmäßig hinkriege und das müsste klappen.

The fourth project is a Fair-Isle children sweater. There I just did the first pattern, so there is nothing to see yet. Will be beautiful, if I'll be able to knit sort of regular and this should be doable.
