Was ist das? / What is this?

Heute morgen habe ich gestrickt, jaja. Herausgekommen ist dieses etwas amorphe Gebilde. Es ist eine Miniatur, um zu verstehen, wie die Konstruktion sein soll. Erfahrene Zimmermann-Stricker/innen wissen, um was es sich handelt, ich habe zwischendurch gedacht, okay, das funktioniert schonmal nicht. Es sollte nicht funktionieren, dürfte nicht funktionieren. Aber, mit zwei Kniffen funktioniert es doch.

Yes, this morning I did some knitting, I did. The result was this somewhat amorphous thing. Its a miniature in order to understand the construction. Experienced Zimmermann-knitters know, what it will be. I thought while knitting, this will never work out. It shouldn't, couldn't work out. But, with two folds attached, it does.

Das Ganze wird die Adult Surprise Jacket und ich wollte schonmal sehen, was ich tue, bevor ich die unglaubliche Zahl von 480 Maschen anschlage. In der Anleitung steht 9x K, wobei K 1/3 der einfachen Breite sein soll. Klingt einfach, bei K=4 Maschen ist es einfach, bei K=48 Maschen und einer Bearbeitung, nach der nicht neunmal, sondern zehnmal K angeschlagen werden, sind das dann 480 Maschen und es wird ein langer Weg, bis sich auch nur annähernd zeigt, wie das Ganze funktioniert. Deshalb die Miniatur, ich kann sie mir angucken, während ich mir überlege, warum zum Teufel ich jetzt wieder zunehmen muss, wo grade die Maschenzahl einigermaßen übersichtlich geworden ist.

This will be the Adult Surprise Jacket and I wanted to know what I'm doing before casting on the vast number of 480 stitches. The directions tell me to cast on 9x K, K being one third of the width. Sounds simple, with K=4 stitches it is simple. With K=48 stitches and an addition saying not to cast on nine times K but ten times K these are 480 stitches and a log way to go, until I just about start seing how the thing is coming together. That's why I knitted the miniature, I will be able to watch it while thinking why the hell I have to increase again, where I just got to just about having a reasonable number of stitches.
