Ravelympics

Nunja, Freitag isses soweit: Nachts um drei geht die Olympiade los und damit auch mein etwas abgeschossener Versuch, in 17 Tagen eine Fair-Isle-Jacke aus Drops Alpaca in Nadelstärke 2,5 zu stricken. Die Maschenprobe ist gemacht, das Ding hat ungefähr 37 Reihen und 34 Maschen auf 10cm. Das bedeutet, ich muss unglaubliche 416 Maschen anschlagen, damit das Ding um mich rumpasst. Gleichwohl sieht die Maschenprobe gut aus. Ich werde sie unvernähten Fäden als Talisman tragen, wann immer ich das Ding stricke.

Das blaue Muster hat noch ein Problem, weil die Kettenform nicht zu erkennen ist. Aber ich glaube, ich weiß, wie ich das richtig machen kann. Das muss ich auch noch ausprobieren.

Davor muss ich noch den Tiny Dakota on the Side fertig machen. Bis jetzt sind Vorder- und Rückenteil fertig und haben ein Bündchen, fehlt noch das vordere Bündchen und die zwei Ärmel. Vorne das Bündchen werde ich heute abend zu "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" (im übrigen ein wunderhübsches Buch!) stricken, hoffentlich fertig, dann habe ich noch Donnerstag abend und den ganzen Freitag für die Ärmel. Hat deshalb etwas Eile, weil die Fertigstellung nicht bis nach den Ravelympics warten kann - die Empfängerin hat am 19. Februar Geburtstag, da muss das Ding dort sein.

Also nicht weiter rumgedaddelt, ran an die Nadeln.

Well, Friday night is the night of nights: At 3 a.m. the Olympic Winter Games begin and with this also my rather crazy attempt to knit a Fair Isle Cardigan with Drops Alpaca in Needle Size 1.75 in 17 days. I did the swatch, my gauge is 34 stitches and 37 rows for 4 inches. That means I'll have to cast on unbelievable 416 stitches to make the thing fit around me. However the swatch looks good. I will wear it as a mojo with undarned ends whenever I'm knitting the thing.

There is still a problem with the blue pattern, it should look like a chain. But I think I know how to sort that out. I'll have to give it another try.

Before starting I will have to finish Tiny Dakota on the Side. The body part and lower cuff is done, what's missing is the front edging and two sleeves. The edging I'm hoping to finish tonight listening to "The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society" (a wonderful book by the way!). Then I'll have Thursday evening and the entire Friday for the sleeves. It can't wait until finishing the ravelympics, because the birthday of the receiver is on February 19, so then the thing will have to be there.

So no more hanging around, on the needles, set, go.
