Fertige Objekte | Finished Objects

Ich war ja immer ziemlich sicher, dass ich nicht so jemand bin, der alles nachmachen muss. Ich habe mich getäuscht. Das hier ist die "South Bay Shawlette" von Lion Brand, die ungefähr noch fünf Leute aus meinem Strickzirkel gehäkelt haben. Ich habe dazu Norovorräte genutzt und weiß jetzt wieder, dass das Zeug zwar schön ist, aber unerträglich zu häkeln/stricken: (i) viel zu stark verzwirnt, das verzwirbelt sich ständig. (ii) in jedem Knäuel ein Knoten, der natürlich ohne jeglichen Farbbezug. Die Farben sind schön, der Rest ist, naja.

Ich habe sie "Shawlette with Winnie" getauft, weil ich während des Häkelns "Churchill" von Roy Jenkins gehört habe. Schöne, spannende Biographie. Und Churchill hatte wohl den Spitznamen "Winnie" (der andere war "pig", den wollte ich nun nicht verwenden).

I used to be quite sure that I'm not the person having to knit or crochet something everybody else has. I was wrong. This is the "South Bay Shawlette", a pattern from Lion Brad, which about five other people from my knitting guild did also. I used some of my Noro yarn stash and now I know again, why this stuff is beautiful, but unbearable to knit/crochet: (i) the yarn has much too much twist, it tangles all the time, (ii) a knot in each skein and this practically always changes the colour. I love those colours, but the rest is, well...

I christened it "Shawlette with Winnie", since I heard "Churchill" by Roy Jenkins while crocheting it. Fine thrilling biography. And Churchill apparently had the nickname "Winnie" (I was rather reluctant to use the other nickname "pig" for that matter). 

Meine Märzsocken sind jetzt auch fertig, damit ist aus meiner Single-Party ein wohlgeordnetes Dreierpaar geworden. Das Muster ist schön, Elementary Watson Socks (Ravelry-Link) man siehts nicht so bei dem dunklen Untergrund, aber sie sind schön, schwer, mit langem Schaft, ganz so, wie ich sie mag. Das ist mein viertes Paar Socken, das ich mit Magic Loop von unten gestrickt habe. Macht wirklich Spaß, die nächsten werden aber wieder mit Spiel von oben gestrickt.

Sie heißen "Thorondors Erben", weil ein Muster fliegender Gänse drauf ist, die ich mal fein zu Adlern erklärt habe. Ist kaum zu sehen, aber ich weiß es. 

My socks for March are done, so my single-party changed after all in to three orderly married couples. I like the pattern, Elementary Watson Socks (Ravelry-Link), it is not too much visible on the dark ground. But they are beautiful, quite heavy, long leg, just as I like them. That's my fourth pair of socks knitted toe-up with Magic Loop. It's fun, but the next ones will be cuff-down with DPNs again.

I christened those "Thorondors Heirs", since there is a "Flying Geese" motif on the sock, which I re-interpreted to eagles. It's hardly visible, but I know it.
