Errungenschaften / Achievements

So, ein bisschen was Fertiges habe ich auch zu zeigen, nicht nur gestrickt, da ich ja meinen "Aufräumurlaub" hatte.

Some things are finished also, not just knitted, since the spring holiday is usually destined for clearing up my mess.

1. Buttercup: Ich trage ihn, während ich dies schreibe. Trägt sich gut. Er ist tatsächlich blau, so eine Art Jeansblau. Unten mit dem Rand hatte ich ein bisschen Last, den habe ich dreimal gestrickt, bis er sich nicht mehr nach oben gewölbt hat. Er ist jetzt ein einfacher kraus rechter Rand.

Der Ausschnitt war im Rohzustand auch ziemlich prominent, da ich ja ein Garn mit 5er Prügeln gestrickt habe, wo laut Anleitung 3,5 oder 4mm vorgesehen waren. Hab ich aber mit der Umrandung hingekriegt, da zeigt sich nicht mehr als gewünscht.

Im Unterschied zu den Puffärmel der Anleitung habe ich Dreiviertel-Ärmel gestrickt mit einem Mustersatz unten (was man nicht so recht sieht). Ich und Puffärmel zusammen ist einfach keine gute Idee.

Das Garn ist ein Baumwoll-Leinengemisch, Katia Liana. Sehr schön zu verstricken und deutlich ergiebiger als erwartet.

1. Buttercup: I'm wearing it as I write this. It wears well. The colour is blue, a sort of jeansblue. I had to knit the lower edging three times until it didn't curl up any more. It's now just a simple garter stitch border.

The neck-line was quite prominent without the border, since I knit this with 5mm tree-trunks instead of the intended 3.5-4mm. It worked out nicely with the border, there is not more to be shown than wanted.

The sleeves of the pattern were planned as puffed sleeves. I changed these to three quarter sleeves, since puffed sleeves and myself do not go too well together.

The yarn is a beautiful cotton-linen blend, Katia Liana. Knits wonderfully and much abundant than expected.

2. Multnomah - ungespannt: Das war mein Unterwegs-Strickzeug nach Köln zur Handarbeit + Hobby. Ist ein Feather and Fan-Muster (wie heißt das auf deutsch?) und leider auch wieder eher kurzes Vergnügen, da schon fertig. Noch ist es ungespannt, das wird noch ziemlich groß. Ich wollte es erst nur in Form ziehen, aber ich glaube, Spannen ist besser.

Gestrickt habe ich mit Unisono von Zitron, Merino mit Aloe Vera und Jojoba. Ist mehr so Schnickschnack, hat sich aber schön verstrickt. Bisschen seifig vielleicht *grins* Immerhin hatte ich zwischendurch das Gefühl, als hätte ich Garn mit Elasthan erwischt.

2. Multnomah - unblocked: This was my knitting project for the "Hobby + Handarbeit" Fair in Cologne. It is a feather and fan pattern and was unfortunately short fun again, it was done in no time. It still is unblocked and I think it will be quite big when blocked. At first I intended not to block it, but it will be better to do it after all.

I knitted this with Unisono from Zitron, which is Merino with Aloe Vera and Jojoba. This is more like fiddle-faddle, still it knitted well, maybe a bit saponaceous *grin*. After all I at times had the feeling of having caught up yarn with Elasthan.

3. Mein Blumenfenster: Das war die Arbeit gestern, alle Zimmerpflanzen umtopfen und die Balkonpflanzen richten. Noch sind sie nicht draußen, die Eisheiligen müssen erst noch rumgehen.

War eine Schweinearbeit, erst den ganzen Kram hochwuchten (dreimal 3. Etage Altbau, jeweils schwer beladen), dann die Umtopferei, anschließend den Müll (alte Erde, abgestorbene Äste und alte Töpfe) in zwei schwerbeladenen Ladungen runterwuchten. Und am Ende den ganzen Dreck wegputzen. Hat sich aber gelohnt, es ist schön geworden.

Dieses Jahr werde ich auf dem Balkon auch Rosmarin und Thymian haben, das duftet dann immer ins Wohnzimmer rein. Und wie immer gibt es kleine Bäumchen mit kleinen Blüten, sieht ein bisschen aus wie in der Provence, einer meiner Lieblingsplätze auf dieser Erde (wenn ich nur französisch könnte).

3. My flower window: This was my work yesterday. I changed the soil of all my house plants and prepared the flowers for the balcony. They remain inside, until after blackberry summer in mid may.

Was a devil of a job. First of all get all the stuff three floors up in three heavy loads, then change the soil and get the balcony plants done. After this I had to get all the litter back down - old soil, dried plant parts, old pots - again in two heavy loads. And in the end clean up the mess. It was worth it, I like it a lot.

This year I will have rosemary and thyme on the balcony, this smells nicely into the living-room. And as always there will be small flower-trees with tiny blossoms. It looks a bit like it does in the Provence, one of my favourite spots in the world (if only I could speak French).

4. Die letzte Errungenschaft: Nunja, das hab ich zwar gemacht, aber nicht gewollt. Wenn ich wenigstens sagen könnte, ich hab eine wilde Schlacht geschlagen und mich dabei unter Verwundung meiner Haut erwehrt. Oder ehrenwert jemand vor dem Fallen bewahrt und mir selbst eine Verletzung zugezogen. Nein, ich bin einfach aus der Dusche gestiegen und hab mir den Zehen angehauen - mit diesem Resultat. Knitschblau, ein bisschen deformiert, evtl. gebrochen.

Wegen sowas geh ich ja nicht mehr zum Arzt, nachdem ich zweimal den kleinen Zeh gebrochen und sehr für Erheiterung des Orthopäden gesorgt habe. Er meint, man kann eh nichts anderes machen als warten, bis es nicht mehr weh tut, selbst wenn es gebrochen ist. Für mich ist das völlig okay, humple ich halt ein bisschen und schaue leidend aus, bis es nicht mehr weh tut.

4. My last acomplishment: Well, I did this, but I didn't want to do it. If only I could say I had a real battle and fought my way wounded, but victorious. Or I had most honourably saved somebody else from falling, injuring myself in the deed. Nothing of it, I left the shower and injured my toe - with this result. Black, a bit deformed, maybe broken.

I'll never ever again go to see a doctor for this. I had broken my small toe twice and gave the orthopedist a lot of fun with it. He said you could do nothing else but wait until it doesn't hurt any more, even if it is broken. That's quite fine with me, I'll be limping a bit and look suffering, until it doesn't hurt any more.
