Das beste Knopfloch überhaupt | Best buttonhole ever

Ich experimentiere immer wieder an Knopflöchern rum. Die sind meines Erachtens viehisch schwer richtig hinzubekommen. Entweder man muss sie hinterher umnähen, weil sie labberig sind, oder sie sehen einfach schrecklich aus, weil sie irgendwelche komischen Huckel haben.

I like experimenting with buttonholes. These are fiendishly difficult to get right. Either I have to sow around them, because they are too sloppy, or the look awful, because they have strange bumps all over the place.

Die zweireihigen Knopflöcher mag ich gar nicht, eben weil sie zu labberig werden und die Knöpfe entweder nicht durchpassen oder quasi durchfallen, so dass die Jacke immer offensteht. 

I don't like the two-row buttonholes at all, because they tend to get too sloppy and the buttons won't go through or virtually fall through, leaving the cardi constantly open.

Deshalb habe ich verschiedene einreihige Knopflöcher ausprobiert, die ich so im Netz gefunden habe. Eigentlich war ich ganz zufrieden mit der Lösung von Elizabeth Zimmermann, aber ich hatte einmal ihr Buch nicht dabei, so dass ich Alternativen suchen musste.

That's why I tried several one-row buttonholes I found in the internet. Actually I liked the solution of Elizabeth Zimmermann, but once I didn't have the book with me, so I had to find an alternative.

Und daraus ist mein jetziges Favoritenknopfloch entstanden. Es ist ein bisschen umständlich, aber dafür muss ich am Ende nichts mehr nähen, das Muster drumrum bleibt das Muster und es ist genau richtig fest, um einen Kopf durchzulassen und drinzuhalten.

And from this came my present favourite buttonhole. It's a bit laborious, but I won't have to sow anything, the pattern around it remains visible, and it is firm enough to let a button through and keep it there. 

Und das geht so: | And that's how it goes:

Bis zum ersten Knopfloch normal im Muster stricken (bei mir 2re2li).
Knit to the first buttonhole in pattern (k2p2 in my case).

Eine Masche abheben, Faden von vorne nach hinten legen und dann loslassen (ich habe zur Anschauung die masche wieder auf die andere Nadel zurückgeschoben; das ist nicht notwendig).
Slip first stitch, put yarn from front to back and let it go (For reasons to show I put the stitch back on the left needle; that is not necessary).

Zweite Masche abheben, erste Masche darüber heben, dritte Masche abheben, zweite darüber heben, das wiederholen, bis die erforderliche Maschenzahl abgekettet ist.
Slip second stitch, lift first stitch over second and off the needle, slip third stitch, lift second stitch over third and off the needle, repeat until the required number of stitches is cast off.

Letzte Masche drehen und auf die linke Nadel setzen. Letzte Masche auf der rechten Nadel ebenfalls umdrehen. Arbeit wenden.
Turn the last stitch and put it back on left needle. Also turn last stitch on right needle. Turn work.

Jetzt den Faden wieder aufnehmen. Die rechte Nadel in das hintere Maschenglied der ersten Masche auf der linken Nadel stecken und links abstricken, die neue  Masche auf die linke Nadel schieben. In die neue Masche ebenfalls ins hintere Maschenglied einstechen und links stricken, diese neue Masche ebenfalls auf die linke Nadel tun. Das wiederholen bis eine Masche mehr entstanden ist, als abgekettet wurde.
Now pick up working yarn, insert right needle into the back part of the stitch and purl, put this stitch on left needle. Insert left needle into the back part of the just created stitch and purl, put this stitch on left needle. Repeat this until you have one more stitch than cast off.

Nun alle neuen Maschen und die letzte alte Masche wenden, so dass das rechte Maschenglied vorne ist. Arbeit wenden.
Now turn all new stitches and the last old stitch, so the right part of the stitches is in front of the needle. Turn work again.

Nun die nächsten beiden Maschen im Muster zusammenstricken.
Now knit the next two stitches together in pattern.

Fertig | Done.

Das sieht richtig, richtig gut aus. Ist ein bisschen eine Fummelei, aber die lohnt sich, weil da wirklich nichts labbert, sondern auch die Ecken sehen richtig gut aus und sind schön haltbar.

So, I think, this looks really, really good. It's a bit fiddly, but it's worth it, because there is nothing sloppy, the corners are nice and firm.
