Irgendwie scheine ich grade etwas die Planeritis zu haben. Am Wochenende habe ich meine Vorräte katalogisiert und ausgerechnet, dass ich stramme 120 Kilometer Garn daheim habe. Dann habe ich heute meine derzeitigen Arbeiten erfasst und dabei festgestellt, dass ich letztes Jahr doch 38 und nicht 36 Kilometer verstrickt habe, was mir Hoffnung macht für dieses Jahr und vor allem für meinen Garnverbrauch ... Ist aber immer noch Material für drei Jahre, wenn ich so weiterstricke wie bisher.

Somehow I seem to suffer some sort of planning overdose. On the weekend I filed my stash and calculated that I have some crazy 120 kilometres of yarn here. Then I filed my present works in progress and found out, that I knitted 38 instead of 36 kilometres last year. This gives me hope for this year and especially for my yarn usage. Still I've got material for another three years, if I go on knitting as I've done.

Damit ich so weiterstricke wie bisher, muss ich jeden Monat etwas mehr als drei Kilometer stricken, was eigentlich Irrsinn ist. Okay, in den letzten zwei Jahren scheine ich das tatsächlich gemacht zu haben, aber irgendwie will ich mir das eigentlich nicht vornehmen. Gleichwohl habe ich - weil ich ja grade dran war - mal ausgerechnet, was ich diesen Monat gestrickt habe, und komme auf stracke 2,5 Kilometer per gestern abend.

In order to proceed knitting this amount, I will have to knit a bit more than three kilometres each and every month, which sounds absolutely crazy. Well, I seem to have been that crazy in the last two years, but somehow I'm reluctant to take this up for 2011. However, being on the math road already, I calculated that 2011 I've knitted some 2.5 kilometres per yestereve.

Tja, und dann habe ich mal wieder den Versuch unternommen, meine derzeitigen Arbeiten zu priorisieren. Mal sehen, ob das diesmal hinhaut (letztes Mal ist das schief gegangen). Nr. 1, die Geburtstagstunika, muss grade auf Anprobe warten (da fehlen nur noch die Bündchen an Ärmel und Hals), heute beim Zahnarzt hab ich dann gehorsam Nr. 2 Aragorn weitergestrickt, allerdings habe ich heute nachmittag dann Nr. 5, den Übungsfairisle, wieder rausgezogen und gemerkt, dass ich den Ärmel gar nicht wie vermutet aufziehen muss, sondern einfach weiterstricken kann.

Well, and then I'll have another go at prioritizing my works in progress. Maybe I'll succeed this time (last time I failed dismally). No 1, the birthday tunic, will have to wait for a try on (it just needs edgings for neck and sleeve openings), today at the dentist's I dutifully proceeded with No 2, Aragorn. However, this afternoon I picked up No 5 again, the practise Fair Isle. I found out I don't have to rip the sleeve at all as I had thought, but just go on knitting.

Das Ziel für Januar könnte nunmehr lauten (ist urlaubsbedingt ein bisschen mehr):

• Tunika für Geburtstag fertigmachen, evtl. Shrug dazu auch mindestens angeschlagen (der Geburtstag ist im Februar, deshalb ist hier Eile geboten).
• Aragorn-Socken als Januarsocken fertigmachen.
• It's Tea Time für Chef vielleicht auch, wenns geht (hab zwei lange Zugfahrten vor mir, da ist der Übungsfairisle ein bisschen pervers zu stricken), ansonsten werden das die Februar-Socken.
• Catherine Parr soll diesen Monat auch noch fertig werden. Da ist der erste Ärmel fertig, aber ich bin nicht sicher, ob er nicht zu kurz ist. Da das Ganze noch respektabel gespannt werden muss und die Verlängerung unproblematisch ist, kann ich da eigentlich auch den zweiten Ärmel machen.

Wenn ich all das hinbekäme, würde sich meine Ausbeute im Januar verdoppeln. Das wäre dann wieder so verrückt, dass ich mir das lieber noch nicht vornehme, sondern einfach sehe, wie weit ich komme.

So, my objectives for January could be (a bit more due to holidays):

• Finish tunic for birthday, maybe at least cast on a shrug to go with it (this birthday is in February, therefore speed is needed).
• Finish Aragorn-Socks as my January-Socks.
• Maybe finish It's Tea Time for my boss also. I've got two long train rides ahead, there it would be a bit wrestly to go on knitting the practise Fair Isle. If they won't be finished, they will be my February-project.
• Catherine Parr should be finished this month. The first sleeve is done but I'm not sure whether it isn't too short. Since the sweater will need quite heavy blocking anyway and lengthening the sleeve isn't all that of a problem, I'm able to knit the second sleeve.

If I manage to achieve all this, my yardage would double for this month. This is so crazy, that I'm not willing to plan that, but just see how far I can get.
