Fertig und zurück auf Los / Done and back to square one

During the last few days I was very busy finishing two projects. Well, and I started a third one - more by coincidence.

But let's take it in turn:

Kauni-Cardigan: This was almost done by the beginning of January. I had to re-do the cuffs, which were with exception of the sleeve cuffs too sloppy. So I re-knitted all of them and I like the result very much. Maybe I'll have to do the neck again, since the neck opening is still quite big. I'll have to figure out how to make it smaller. But that will have no hurry, I like the thing a lot!

Soweit, so fein.

Cashmere-Silk-Vest: This project was a mish-mash of different design-ideas. The pattern was from an very old Drops design, which I liked, but the shape of the thing didn't fit with the amount of yarn. So I took the pattern and changed the shape. All fine at first sight, the yarn is wonderful, cashmere-silk-merino blend, needle size 4mm is good to knit, the swatch was big enough. So far so good. The result isn't too bad at first sight.

BUT: The thing is too tight. Flat swatch and knitting in rounds is no good for a Windsbraut, which purls quite sloppy. Then my goal was to knit the entire thing as a whole, which means not to cut threads and start anew. And I had a quite strange idea: Since round yoke doesn't suit me well, I intended to knit the collar mainly as a raglan and knit the last bit as a round collar. I liked the idea, it gave me the opportunity to repeat a bit of the pattern from the start. But I decreased to heavily and the pattern with lots of sloppy purls didn't like that at all. In addition to that I miscalculated the raglan, so the collar is too long.

That the transition from body to yoke doesn't look to nice, which basically meant to have to fudge sowing, didn't matter all to much in the end. This means: The vest is finished (and I had to include it to the finished objects, this I owed to the work done), and at the same time it isn't started yet: I will have to do it all over again. At least I have a perfectly big swatch now, the yarn is tidied up, and I will have time to figure out, how to do it better.

3. There are no pictures of the object I started, there is not enough to be seen yet. I'm knitting a second Pi are Square (the first may be seen here). A friend liked my so much that she also wants one of those. It won't be as big as mine and I'll knit the edgings in a beautiful red instead of Kauni Rainbow. I'm afraid, it's a lot of fun to knit, so I won't take all too long for that.

Balance of the weekend: two done, one started, 11 projects in progress.

Ziel der Woche: Ein weiteres fertigstellen
Object of the week: finish another one
