Entdeckungen | Findings

Jetzt mal ganz ab vom Stricken: Das Leben hat schon seine eigenen interessanten Elemente zu bieten, finde ich. Heute habe ich gleich zwei davon entdeckt.

Knitting aside: Life has it's own fascinating elements, doesn't it? Today I found two of them.

Roter Baum und Entfrau | Red tree and Ent wife

Das habe ich vor meinem Fenster. Ich finde es infam, dass sich ein knallroter Baum nicht anständig fotografieren lässt. Er ist wirklich tiefknallrot, satt und leuchtend, mitten in der Trübe eines hundskalten Herbstes. Und ich krieg meinen Fotoapparat, oder genau genommen keinen Fotoapparat dazu, dieses Rot zu fotografieren.

Gleichzeitig hab ich zufällig entdeckt (genau genommen habe ich knapp neben mein Ziel gezielt, bin ja nun nicht die große Fotografin vor dem Herrn, hab ich Euch schon erzählt, richtig?), dass eine Entfrau neben mir wohnt. Auf Guernsey haben sie sie umgemacht, hier lebt eine, ganz bestimmt.

This is what I can see in front of my window. I find it disgraceful that a bright red tree won't show it's colour in pictures. The colour is deep bright red, saturated and shiny in the midst of a dank, chilly autumn day. And I can't get my camera - well, any camera to get this red on a picture.  

At the same time I found by chance (in fact I just missed my target, I'm not the best photographer in the world, I told you that before, remember?), that an Ent wife is living near my place. On Guernsey they killed one, here another one is definitely living.

Interessante Lampe | Interesting lamp

Ich brauchte eine neue Lampe. Und ich habe eine wunderschöne neue Lampe gekauft. Schön schörkelig, hängt nicht runter, ist einfach hübsch. Jetzt, wo sie da hängt, wo sie hin sollte, zeigt sie sich in voller Pracht - ähm - mit einer spektakulären Brustwarze in der Mitte. Warum ist mir das im Geschäft nicht aufgefallen? Das Ding ist riesig!

Also ich finde ja immer noch, sie ist unglaublich hübsch, aber irgendwie hoffe ich, dass mein Besuch nicht so genau hinschaut, sondern sich am angenehmen Licht freut. Ich werde ihn bestimmt nicht drauf aufmerksam machen (wenn ich meinen schrägen Sinn für Humor im Zaum halten kann).

I needed a new lamp. And I bought a gorgeous new lamp. Nicely embellished, doesn't hang down, just a pretty little thing. Now it hangs on my ceiling, it shows its full beauty - well - and a spectacular nipple in the middle. Why didn't I spot that in the shop?  The thing is huge!

So, well, I still think it is beautiful, but somehow I hope my visitors won't look too closely but enjoy the comfortable light it gives. I won't give them a hint for certain (if I can get the upper hand on my weird sense of humour).
