So, hier gibts nun die Bilder von der fertigen Tunika. Mein Fotoapparat scheint petrol nicht fotografieren zu können, das wird immer blau. Ich habs nachträglich etwas gegrünt, damit man die Farbe sieht.

Der Körper war völlig unproblematisch, einfach gradeaus gestrickt in diesem wundervollen Muster. War aus einer Lena, glaub ich, allerdings gab es da kleine Zöpfchen, die mir nicht so gut gefielen, deshalb habe ich dieses Lochmuster zwischen den Mustersätzen gestrickt. Die Ärmel hätten auch aus dem Muster sein sollen, aber die waren im Original lang und ich wollte kurze Ärmel, deshalb sind die nur im großen Perlmuster.

Well, here are the pictures from my new tunic. My camera doesn't seem to be able to catch petrol, it always comes out blue on the pictures. So I had to re-do the colours a bit hoping this shows this gorgeous colour a bit better.

The body was easy knitting in this wonderful pattern. Was out of a German knitting magazine. The did small cables which I didn't like too much, so I did this little lace in between the patterns. The sleeves were meant to be in the same pattern, but the were long in the original and I wanted them short, so moss stitch was the better alternative here.

Der Ärmel ist wie gestern schon geschrieben von oben eingestrickt. Das war ein bissel eine Fummelei, bis ich wusste, wie ich das am Besten machen kann. Ich hab ungefähr 12 Maschen von der Schulter weg angefangen die Maschen aufzunehmen, dann ringsum Maschen aufgenommen und diese dann von oben runter in jeder Reihe eine Masche zusätzlich gestrickt. Angefangen habe ich wie gesagt mit 24 Maschen, je 12 rechts und links von der Schulter. Ging völlig problemlos, nur der Übergang zu den stillgelegten Maschen war blöd, weil es dort ein Riesenloch gegeben hat. Das musste ich nachträglich zunähen.

As mentioned yesterday I knitted the sleeves as set-in sleeves from the top. It was a bit fiddly until I knew how to best do this. I started to pick up stitches about 12 stitches away from the shoulderseam, picked them up around the entire sleeve opening. Then - starting with 24 stitches, 12 each at front and back - I knitted back and forth picking up one stitch in each row. This was a piece of cake. Just the part directly beside the underarm stitches was a bit tricky. There was a gaping hole which I had to sow shut afterwards.

Das Garn werde ich nicht mehr verstricken, dies aus zwei Gründen:

1. Das Zeug zieht Fäden wie die Sünde. Das ist schon schwierig zu stricken, das Garn ist praktisch nicht verzwirnt, sondern gefacht. Aber auch beim Tragen muss man höllisch aufpassen, dass sich da nix verhakt. Farbe und Material sind grandios, aber das ist echt die Mühe nicht wert, das macht mit der Zeit ärgerlich.
2. Ich hatte 14 Knäule, am Ende sind exakt fünf Gramm übrig - abzüglich ein paar Gramm für dreieinhalb Vernähfäden, denn normalerweise habe ich die Garnenden direkt beim Stricken komplett mit eingewoben. Der fertige Pulli wiegt 655 Gramm. Aus meiner Sicht sind 40 Gramm Verlust bei 700 Gramm einfach zuviel.

I won't knit that yarn (Rowan bamboo) again out of two reasons:

1. It is fiendishly difficult to knit, the yarn is hardly twisted and you have to be very careful not to loose strands. And you also have to be very careful wearing it, in order not to draw threads. The colour and texture are gorgeous, but this is not worth the effort, you get aggressive having to pay that many attention.

2. I had 14 skeins of 50 grams, my left-over in the end were exactly five grams - apart from a few grams for a few darned in ends, since usually I wove in the ends entirely while knitting. The finished sweater weighs 655 grams. A loss of 40 grams in a total of 700 grams is too much from where I stand.
